In October 2008 Retirement Commissioner Diana Crossan attended a high level international conference on financial education in Bali, Indonesia, hosted by the OECD and Bank Indonesia.
Diana Crossan's address, entitled 'Evaluating financial education programmes and measuring financial literacy' (721 KB, PDF), was based on a paper written by independent policy researcher, Alison O’Connell, recommending a framework for financial education evaluation.
The main objective of this conference was to advance and elevate dialogue on financial education in the international arena, with a special focus on South East Asian economies. The conference also aimed to share country-specific experiences in implementing financial education strategies, review applied research and discuss best practices.
It attracted a wide international audience of high-level government officials and experts from public authorities and regulatory and supervisory bodies, as well as senior private sector representatives and academics from OECD and non-OECD countries.
